Primitai - Through The Gates Of Hell

Playing heavy metal that touches all the pleasure spots, Primitai are out to entertain you with a debut album that will do that in spades.

Utilising melodic fret stroking solo's of high order whirling above a bedrock of solid skin work Primitai have got the basics right and with three of the crew contributing to the writing this is an album of subtle differences although the recipe is the same in that every track includes an excellent lead solo.

This album 'Through The Gates Of Hell' is a worthy slice of heavy metal fit to grace
a metal heads collection and with close to forty five minutes worth of maidenesque axe
work.. yes thats right, playing heavy metal that has stood the test of time the guys
certainly know how to build solo's not for them the downturned riff to make you feel gut wrenching ill or cheap repetitive bludgeon work, Primatai play exhilarating air guitar metal with a grin and bags of ****sure attitude, not for nothing do they list maiden, Motley Crew, Kiss and AC DC, in the influences.

Opening with 'Army Of Darkness' running guitars and chanting lyrics Primatai don't cough about this is surly going to be a crowd pleaser for years to come, one thing you quickly notice about the band is that they let the music do the talking as each song seems to run of lyrics about halfway (sleight exaggeration) through as they indulge us all to great axe work, Christie on vocals comes accross with some great Simmons induced attitude, but can he perform cunnilingus as well? the second tune 'Deathhammer' has much more lyrical content perhaps this is because Christie co wrote the song with Saxby, but saxby on lead guitar is not to be denied as he fits in some great squeals, a nice heavy riff for foundation while he builds his fret work.

I am not going to say much more except that the other seven tracks give more of the same recipe, although in general the album doesn't have the big label polish in the production it is tight and raw leaving room for improvement for when they get signed. If you dig Bill and Ted's adventures, you are going to love this, thatís for sure

Graham / Vocals, Guitar
