Fei Comodo Interview

1. How did the band get together?

The band first started with Marc (vox), Will (guitar) & the old drummer in 2003, then through college they met Jay (bass) and Mike (guitar). Later on in 2005 the old drummer left and the I joined in September. Its all been plain sailing from then on!

2. Where do you all come from?

Some of us live in Chelmsford, some in Colchester. Essex boys innit!

3. What bands were your greatest influences?

In the beginning when we all started playing our instruments etc, we had all sorts of influences, like Iron Maiden, Nirvana, RHCP, Bonjovi, Korn, Slipknot etc... But these days I'd say our biggest influences are Thrice, Reuben, Sikth, Coheed & Cambria, Dillinger.

4. When did you start playing an instrument and what was it?

I started playing drums when I was 13, so about 6 and a bit years ago?? I did play clarinet before that, but I didn't earn many cool points for that back in school.

5. What was the bands most memorable gig to date?

I think playing KoKo in London last year, it was supporting INME and it has been our biggest show to date, the massive stage helped make it that little bit more memorable as well!

6. What do you do to relax on tour?

Well I tend to sleep whenever I can and play FIFA 08 on PSP! I think a few of the other guys indulge in day-beers here and there, and other than that we tend to just listen to music and stuff, not your typical metal band I know. It's not all about sex & drugs kids!

7. You have an album due out soon, when is it due out, and how long did it take to record?

Well our single "Break The Ice" is out on the 4th August, and our album "They All Have Two Faces" is due out on the 1st September. It took about 3 months to record and mix the album. That's not including pre-production and getting it mastered though. We took our time with the album, because we really didn't want to rush it then listen back and wished we'd done things differently. As it stands we're all really happy with how it turned out which is awesome!

8. Who writes the songs?

It varies from song to song to be honest. Sometimes someone will come up with a riff, then we'll all work on it together from there. Then other times a few of us will just have a burst of inspiration and write a whole song in one night! Most of us have recording equipment at home, which is great because we often bring random ideas we've recorded to practice and see what we can do with them.

9. Have you any plans for the rest of the year?

Yeah we're pretty damn busy actually! We've got a load of shows leading up to our tour with Devil Sold His Soul in October. Then after that we're going out with August Burns Red for a few dates, and then in December we hit the road with Blessed By A Broken Heart & I Am Ghost. We have plans to go to Europe too before the new year, but we'll have to wait and see.

10.What is your favourite song of all time?

God. That's probably the hardest question EVER. I think one my favourite songs has to be "Return Of The Jedi" by Reuben. It has everything a song should have. Such an amazing band! They've split up now though, which I'm totally gutted about. RIP!

11.What is the bands ideal goal?

Get rich, fast. Haha nahhh, I think above all we want to be a respected band and be able to keep making music. That is the most important thing for us.

12.What equipment (manufacturer) does each band member currently use?

Rob - SJC drums, Sabian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks, Tama pedals, DW hardware.
Jay - Ampeg cabs, Mesa head, Warick Thumb bass, DR strings.
Mike - Peavy XXX head, Mesa cab, Jacskon guitar.
Marc - Sure 58 wireless mic
Will - ENGL head, Marshall cab, Fender Strat guitar.

13.Who has the worst habit?

hmm, i'll put one each, so no one gets pissed off with me!

will - N/A hahaha
mike - can be really happy one second and want to kill someone the next.
marc - suddenly comes down with a sore throat before an important show! haha
jay - moody/ convinces everyone in the band about some wicked touring news, but is in actual fact lying his arse off.
rob - NEVER loads in

Band Members
Marc Halls - Vocals
Jay Styler - Bass
Rob Clemson - Drums
Mike Curtis - Guitar
Will Phillipson - Guitar
