Atreyu Live on The Taste of Chaos Tour Birmingham England

I arrived at The Carling Academy two hours before the doors opened and was amazed to see the queue already stretching along Dale End. MUCC and Story of the Year had signing slots prior to the start of the gig, and their fans were keen to make the most of this. The gig was going to be a long one with five bands on show, all who are top acts in their genre and respective countries and the show was set up in a way that it got heavier through the night with Atreyu as headliners on last which was good as they are capable of playing it heavy as well as light. By the time the room darkened the sell out crowd were in the mood for what promised to be an evening of musical mayhem

Headliners Atreyu had quite a task ahead of them to match or surpass the quality already displayed by the previous bands, but they were more than up for the challenge. Making an entrance to the A-Team theme tune they were welcomed with screams and cheers and immediately threw themselves into a vigorous stage show, Alex took an early opportunity to get into the crowd leaning out over the railings to grasp hands with the fans as he leapt about the stage, the room was steaming and at some point Alex stripped of his T shirt and went topless, his coloured tattoo's almost like a second shirt, he urged the crowd to greater rapture as he charged about whipping up the energy. The band used every corner of the stage to project their presence and played all the popular tracks from the current album Lead Sails and Paper Anchor as well as material from some of the earlier albums, the crowd who seemed to know every word sang along. Atreyu seemed to feed off the audiences energy and got even more energetic keeping up the high energy show right through to the end as they delivered an awe inspiring set. By the end the crowd was rapturous and euphoric
