With a tip off that losing sun have more in common with Sepultura, Alice in chains and sound garden then any of the emo bands currently grabbing all the spotlights, I was looking forward to some pulsing rock with a vocalist that sang his set, and I wasn't disappointed. Although the band are out of Wales they carry a strong international flavour with both guitarist and bass player coming from Egypt and bringing their own ideas to mesh with the hardness of solid British rock.
It sounds a good combination to me - so good in fact that losing sun' have been invited to support leading bands like LostProphets, Sepultura and Ill Nino to name a few, and after hearing the material on 'intertia', the losing sun debut,I can see why. The opening track 'dirtnap' rips into straight into a memorable riff, that rolls into some excellent chuffing, rolling axe work. When Paul's vocals kick in, it just makes the song.
Track 2 is 40 seconds of squeaky riff jamming before slamming into intertia with the former riff jam taken to it's logic conclusion and woven into the best song on the mini album. Track 4 is memorable for Paul extending his vocal worth whilst the 5th track is another song worthy of being
placed in the roster of 'the best song on the album' which is explosive drumming ground shattering guitar work and once again the vocals raising the song from good to memorable. So it continues, a good debut full of powerful songs that sound better every time you hear them.
