Converge have been around a while now, 19 years to be precise, and I would have doubted if anyone could maintain the power and ferocity that these guys have maintained, building a ferocious reputation in hardcore circles, what would this new album be like.

Well the album opens with a vicious hardcore metal ska thrash in Dark Horse before returning to their crescendo hardcore metal sound I was first expecting with the wonderful rhythmic roars and the thrash metal guitar against the stage destroying skin section.. breath taking. It doesn’t get any fancier then that, although the discordant rock intro to 'Worms will Feed, Rats Will Feas't is a blinder, showing that veteran status gives privileges not allowed to Johnny come lately bands.

Converge demolish the genres one by one, and drag them upto their own level by the skin of their scalps. Thirteen tracks of blistering.. whoops no.. eleven tracks of blistering metallic hardcore with the final two tracks giving us crude hardcore progressive rock.. what the!..oh well, I did say that veteran status provides special privileges.
