Conceptual album operation : mindcrime 2 picks up the story where it was left off from the platinum selling operatiom mindcrime of 1988, although the band in the intervening years have released nine albums since the momentus mindcrime of 1988, only now has the Seattle based quartet felt inspired enough to write the sequel and finish the story. With fifteen tracks the full story is told in stereo landscapes of atmospheric rock that will carry you along and enrol your imagination in this sequel of mindcrime.
The album begins by setting the narrative but the story opens with the track 'I'm American' with outlandish confidence and false bravado before swiftly taking you into 'one foot in hell' as the story unfolds through to its final recrimination of 'all the promises'. Song writer Geoff Tate says the current political social climate (in USA) inspired him to revisit the storyline. I quote - 'I left the original open-ended with the intent to come back with a sequeal to finish the story up. Considering where we are today and how little things have changed, it was ironic not to continue the story'. Not only is the album constructed well as all good concept albums are but the rock truly does rock.
