Huge melodramatic emotional landscapes aided with explosive punctuations eaststrikewest introduce themselves to the world with their debut album of 11 atmospheric tracks that utilise the sense of dramatic to the extreme. Utilising a lot of string instruments along with complex drum patterns and various keyboards even the guitars have been put through so many gadgets that they are hardly recognizable, it is mainly an instrumental album with vocals only used to add further dimensions to the overall sound rather then 'lyrics' to present any interpretation of a story. There are exceptions, several tracks mooted as possible singles 'Stumble' and 'Electricity' seem to be story lines, but rather simple ones.
Wolves is an album that will shape and capture your mood to such an extent that you are likely at some point to discover that it has stolen away your whole evening leaving yourself feeling emotionally charged. Although the album produces cinematic, emotional, audio landscapes, I feel that fifty minutes or so of yang energy only produces a pretty picture; if they used some female vocals the picture could become beautiful.
A very similar emotional interpretation of the guys earlier band threemovements it is refreshing to discover that the band members are sticking to their guns and pursuing a musical idea through to its perfection, I'm not sure that they have yet reached that point yet, but are certainly journeying in the right direction
