When Blaze Bayley the band took their album on tour around Europe, little did the world know what a huge success they would be, blowing away all and sundry with their quality musicianship and repertoire of songs, it was the perfect thing to do to capture it all on tape for a live album and DVD release.
So we have the 21 track double live album here to review, I blagged it out of the mailbox and have been hording it for the past two months while it has been on continuous play in the sanctity of my car for the two hourly drive every day to work and back, so now I have been pressurised to review it or risk handing it over to someone else in the crew to review.
Well what is there to say about Blaze Bayley, the man has had one of the best apprenticeships in rock and has now elevated himself to master. This recording is going to be one that will go on and on, long into the night of the world of metal and will still be selling in ten years time. Unfortunately metal does not have a huge profile in the UK today, but we still continue to churn out great talent, for British bands to survive and make a living they inevitably have to do most of their touring overseas, so we tend to see less and less of our Great British Talent.
The album opens with a fanfare before exploding into the title track from the Blaze Bayley album 'The Man Who Would Not Die' and epitomised the mans fighting spirit with the vibrant metal that he pens and performs, so the album opens with the first three tunes from his studio album and also finishes with three songs from the same album, in between we get a mix of the best from all of his albums. Superbly backed by the talented twin guitarists of Nico and Jay and a solid bass and drum section of David (Nico's brother) and Larry respectively the band are heavy and metal from birth. If your metal includes Judas Priest, Iron Maiden through to Metallica and the modern thrash bands, Blaze Bayley will surely be right up your street.
