Seasons End - The Failing Light

The Failing light' the debut album from Seasons End complete in a excellent package that opens up into something tangible
with its three piece foldout cover and pullout lyric booklet, lovely! if only the album is as good I thought? my clammy
hand shoved the CD into the machines dark slot and I imediatly noticed
the read out telling me that four of the songs where approx eight minutes or longer, brill! time for some sweeping musical statements, I thought.
The Opening song 'Touch' opens up with Dual Vocals from Becki and David singing about the spark thats gone but the love remains, weaving through melodies
and the freedoms they offer each other, and playing for a full eight minutes plus the song had time to shape and build the emotions. The second track
'Ghost in my emotion' is another song of love, romance lost but with some excellent riffs lanced through the melodies and creamy vocals. Song Three 'One Sadness'
has the dual vocals of a relationship frozen in hurt and stuck in the rut of damaged pride while lamenting about over
a dying love, these are some pretty powerful lyrics, but done well with emotion and true feeling, Goth metal at its true best, and all done with atmospheric
melodies and crashing punches of guitar and skins. this is a band that gets invited to do all the big shows around the country and they never disapoint,
putting on gigs of class and power, and that class shows throughout the album, with some well written songs and perfect execution, this is more then a
Metal Goth band, perhaps prog Goth would better describe the intricate
melodies and use of keyboards and synths.
