Their sound is so mainstream and marketable – a shameless, upbeat rock for the new generation. Relating with a young audience is obviously an important part of a song named ‘My Mom Hates Me’. You take a look at that long hair and those tat’s – your dad probably hates you as well kid! At least your Mom isn’t strong enough to beat you. The song starts with a percussion beat that I instantly likened to ‘We Will Rock You’ and, shamelessly, I was hooked. Before you can get too into it though the scratchy, yowling vocals of frontman Philip. The theme of this song is complaining about the hassle his Mom gives him – as such there is a whinny undertone to the whole thing that you’ll either love or hate. I oscillate between the two – like an electron, never am I in between these two levels. It is very upbeat however and yeah, I actually can relate to their problems on some level. I’m not going to lie though – this song isn’t for those looking for something advanced or testing. The body of the song is a slow, plodding riff that reminds me of ‘Everybody Get Up’ by 5ive. Yeah. Exactly. They sound a bit like Sum41- Lite, but to look at them you would expect something a lot more controversial or a bit different but no, that long hair and leather waist coat is a lifestyle choice rather than a religion! This song is easy to listen to and contains rocks newest brother combo – frontman Philip Steadlür and Tommy Steadlür. Maybe now you notice a running theme… their producer is Jeff Blue, the brains behind a little band you may or may not have heard of called Linkin Park. He is a hit machine – he knows which songs should be singled out for the public consumption. This is definitely capable of attention as long as the marketing is good enough but it just relates TOO much if you get me. It’s too bubblegum for my tastes. Give it to your kids – it won’t make them angry or cause Columbine mk.II – but you’ll definitely want them to turn it down.
