Sacred Mother Tongue - The Ruin of Man

Sacred Mother Tongue play melodic riff metal and from time to time Andy on Guitar lets rip with a little virtuoso, but in main its sold chunky riffery with huge phat skins laid over with some nice vocals plus some growling which slices in from somewhere, so now you have the basics of the band.

Its not usual to open an album with a song titled 'The End' but that's what SMT do, belching out a body rolling riff before we hit an old skool thrash skid, then the band hit their style running with exploding phat drums and a solid riff, this is the way the song proceeds with style switching but leaving room for the guitar to inject some squirting gear
changes, Darren on vocals seems to switch effortlessly between huge stadium filling singing to plaster cracking growling, the album slips into the second track 'Anger on Reflection' without hardly pausing.

You don't get gimmicks with Sacred Mother Tongue, just honest to goodness damn fine metalcore urgency, the forth track is of course 'Two Thousand eight hundred' which recently swooped into the GB rock charts at number four, the album has listed thirteen tracks although two are no more then short precursors of something different, maby for the next album. The band have built up a huge gathering with constant gigging and exposing their music to the fans where it matters, on the stage.

The Suffering track 8 from the album The Ruin of Man

8th Track - The Suffering - from the debut album The Ruin of Man by Sacred Mother Tongue

Holding fear in his mouth
I've come to take him out
Left by disciples, burned by his rivals
Messiah the time is now

What they don't understand puts fear into mankind
Wish to parade and destroy his own mind
The people have spoken now here is my moment
If you heal my pain, i'll heal your suffering

Kill the messiah
Remove the will from their hands and save the souls of man

Face down, to the masses
But he's not afraid, no

Crown of thorns cuts away at his being
'No more of his evil and lies we are seeing'
A nail through his limbs I can suffer this no more
If you heal my pain then i'll heal your suffering

'My time will come to take vengeance on mankind
I will be watching and waiting, and biding my time'
