The Double CD DVD package comes with an audio cd and the DVD version matching the track layout exactly, Opening with One Step Closer and a blistering heavy riff and its only seconds before the audience can be singing in the background, which is the standard interplay between Linkin' and their fans and if your a fan it will make the goose bumps burst out all over, one thing that has made Linkin Park so successful is the empathy that their songs endear to so many. I haven’t got the DVD to review just the CD part of the package, but already I am putting this on my buy list.
The second song 'From The Inside' from the Meteora album shows that the band are not just pushing their new material but are out to entertain the fans new as well as old, one thing about Linkin Park songs, they are always too short or maybe it is that they are so good you just want them to go on for ever. The third song is the minutes to midnight track 'No More Sorrow' and once again the empathy shines through the crowd’s participation and in this dirty world who can't empathise with the feeling behind the lyrics.
Given Up again from Minutes To Midnight continues to demonstrate that the band has evolved in style but remained in substance all the qualities that have made their fan base grow year on year, there is not many bands that can fill Milton Keynes on their own and although Linkin Park had support it was the Park that the 50,000 fans had come to see, and judging from the DVD snippets I have seen they were having a great time, certainly on the audio side the fans were encouraged by Chester and crew to sing their lungs out.
The fifth song Lying from you is giving a great reception then we get 'Hands Held High' before the timeless classics are dished out first with 'Leave Out All The Rest' a perfect rendition that sounded even better then the studio track at the end of the song, Chester screaming "Do you want some more?" and the crowd roaring for more so they dish up Numb, Mike and Chester interplaying their lyrics.
So nothing changes but everything is different and after ten years the songs are delivered as fresh as today’s newspaper. We now get a quite but powerful moment with 'The Little Things Give You Away'. There are eighteen songs on this album.. yes eighteen and that also goes for the DVD what a double deal, now you know why I will be going out to buy this asap.
