Smile Diamond Drive - The Infidel's EP

Diamond Drive – The Infidel’s EP

This band are making a huge name for themselves in their home country of Denmark. Diamond Drive have a keen following from none other than System Of A Down legend John Dolmayan, who recently took to the stage with Diamond Drive to nail an epic performance of the System Of A Down classic 'Toxicity'. Certainly a performance worth witnessing! With a line-up including Kalle, 'Bass player of the year', this band deliver a hard-hitting, thunderous set of tunes which are sure to get your head bouncing and body moving.

Track 1 'Be Gone' explores a heavy rock approach and the guitars provide complex passages alongside palm muted, fast rhythm sections. The vocals share similarities to Korn and System Of A Down during the verses, but when the chorus charges in, the vocals are strong and compliment the music perfectly.

Track 2 'Infidels' is 3 minutes and 22 seconds of pure musical class, with a dominating opening riff that makes the hairs on your neck stand on end. You want powerful drumming? Check out the bassy tom-tom work and echoing mastery with this riotous piece of music.

Track 3 'Traitor' contains complex riffage and this track is complimented by a vocal line which would give Chris Cornell a run for his money! 4 minutes of airwave dominance, resulting in you cranking the volume up passed the max and into the red. Your neighbours won't be annoyed, they'll thank you! Produced in such a way that you can hear each instruments vital input and technical brilliance.

Track 4 'Drowning While Laughing' inspires the listener to get up and rock out like never before. Quite simply, this is a track that has elements of many bands, blended together and outputted through the machine that is Diamond Drive. Unique and unforgettable. Aspects of Tool influence this track and make it epic.

A real travesty in my eyes that this band appear to have gone un-noticed in the UK, which is totally unjustified. Diamond Drive are breathtaking and have the potential to dominate the current music scene. If you get the chance, see this band live, because if they deliver the same sound live, it will be a flawless performance and memorable experience. Writing this review, I kept wanting to write 'this is my favourite track', but as the next one thundered in, I was spoiled for choice! I've had this CD on repeat for the passed day now and it's about to go on again, treat yourself - you won't regret it!

This band are the future.
