Losing Sun's third album shows what a long way they have come with the breadth of their writing since the first excellent bludgeoning album, still incorporating furious post hardcore riffery of the metal kind but drizzling smooth chocolate vocals that round it all off but remembering that on occasion the passion can be emphasized with some aggressive roars.
Opening the album with the bands recent excellent single 'Memory Run' which was for a short while giving away as a free download from the bands website and featured plus rated highly in Metal Hammer magazine. The next two songs 'Jigsaw' and the aggressive 'Triggerfinger' could also be released as singles as the band continues with the same format of great sky writing riffs, distinctive skins and mixing up the vocals between dripping smoothness and harder edged passions, this really is beginning to display a mature quality not usually seen this side of the Atlantic.
Battering Ram the forth track on this distinctive album from the Welsh boys opens up and shows a maturity that marks it out as one of those remarkable album tracks that make the album stay in your consciousness, while the fifth song and title track 'Perspective' takes us back to the earlier days of the bands progress with some hard edged thrusting guitars and almost shouting vocals. The Losing Sun album has a nice round dozen tracks and the sixth track is a little ditty that provides a small break before the band bust out with a dark aggressive post hardcore riven track '1994' that will be getting lots of plays.
The second half of the album gets heavier and also has some distinctive songs that may well remain on the album rather then singles as far as the record label is concerned, but this is cool as it will make the album 'Perspective' one to keep in your play tray. Losing Sun have a distinctive sound utilising the drums to great affect and alternating between phat and crisp they bring a primeval feel to the bands sound while their scrubbing bludgeoning riffery style of guitar work complements the overall sound and makes them an interesting and intelligent addition to the UK metal scene.
