The Drowning - The Black Descent

The second full album from this Welsh band and what a cracker it is too, mixing Doom sentiments with atmospheric melodies all diabolically stitched together with guitars and a death voice that delivers each line like a natural 'The Bleak Descent' is a gem to be savored and then to astonish your mates with because this is going to do the rounds for years and years.

With nine tracks and over an hour of deep musical transitions this is one to get the bong out to (after doing a few buckets) and really get down into the sound. The album opens with 'Blackened Weave' where your initiation into the world of 'The Drowning' begins, it is unlikely that you will re-emerge unchanged. Quoting influences like Paradise Lost, Anathema, Celtic Frost, My Dying Bride, Primordial and The Blood Devine there is quality deeply embedded into the soul of this band so it is no real surprise they can produce metal like this.
