Divine Heresy - Bleed The Filth

Divine Heresy are a melodic death metal band from America who were formed by the founder of Fear Factor, guitarist Dino Cazares. Divine Heresy has origins which trace back to 2003, however the band was officially formed in 2006. The members include Dino Cazares (Guitarist), former Vital Remains drummer Tim Yeung, and former Nile bassist Joe Payne. Tommy Cummings is the former vocalist, but was fired due to an 'onstage altercation'. It was announced on August 14th that former 'The Bereaved' vocalist Travis Neal is to replace him; this band is a match made in metal heaven.

Bleed The Fifth (Debut) was released on August 28th 2007 and sold 2,700 copies in it's first week. As for live shows, starting in May 2008 Divine Heresy will tour with Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, and Firewind. The first song on the album is where the title hails from; 'Bleed The Fifth'.

The song is intense from the word go, beginning with a gunshot, only to be followed by insanely fast dynamic drum beats and thrashing guitars. The vocals are harsh and fast paced then syncopated; always complimenting the melody. The lyrics are punctual and to the point, 'face smashed fist' and 'gossip whores with retracting claws' are some examples of this. The drummers skills cannot be faulted, speed and accuracy both incredible. The guitar solo is simple yet skillful, making it an effective part of the song. The song slowly fades out to an effective end, leaving you hanging on for more.

'Impossible Is Nothing' gets off to fast start with drilling drumbeats, rough riffs, and occasional trills; followed by pounding vocals. The song is fast paced, and would definately stir up an impressively violent mosh pit. The breakdowns give lyrics to air punch too, to really create a connection between the band and the audience. When the vocalist begins to sing, it really uplifts the song, and makes a nice contrast to the beginning of the song. Followed once again by the drilling drumbeats; almost intruducing the fast-paced guitar solo which is short but sweet. Followed once again by impressive vocals, it is the perfect end to a thrilling song.

'Closure' is the final song on the album and has a pleasantly serene start with angst filled vocals and soft guitar riffs. The song is very different from the rest on the album, the vocals almost gentle which reach impressive heights. The songs tempo increases slightly towards the end, the drums pounding a little almost demonstrating the emotion, only to slow down again for a screaming finish, hitting home hard. A very powerful end to the album, the creative genius resounding here.
