Fallen Angel - Rock 'N Roll Sunday / Hard Way To Rock

This two track EP riffs its way into life and commences the screeching, manic guitar you would associate with someone like ACDC. With their first single, 'Rock 'n' Roll Sunday' the band have obviously been influenced by 80's and 90's metal and the vocals are slow and deep, sounding strictly Aerosmith.

This song has simple meaning behind it, describing the heavy lives that a rock 'n' roll band live. Listening to this song, you would of thought that you'd heard it before just because of its strong links with the rock of yesteryear. The song continues with a slow, melodic style of vocals and to my ear it seems to go through the motions of the tried and tested song... verse, chorus, verse, chorus, guitar solo, and chorus, instrumental to finish.

Take nothing away from this song, even though it is a blatant old skool metal on the style of song that the 35+ population will know and adore, it is a well made piece of riffery. The solos are tight and screeching and the only thing missing from the song on the CD is the screaming audience. Definitely a band who will appeal to those who can remember the days when the jukebox was huge, clunky and played vinyl. The EP comes with a bonus track titled 'Hard Way to Rock'. This starts with some really loud instrument use and then goes on for some really upbeat, high tempo rock.

One thing apparent through both songs is the gravely vocals you do associate with the olden day heroin shooting rock star. You can truly imagine this band starting up after meeting one another at an Aerosmith concert, the similarities are endless. The second bonus song is definitely more listenable by my reckoning and both songs are definitely bread and butter rock 'n' roll.. but I would hope they expand their sound slightly so their audience isn't so restricted to rockers who love the golden oldies. A decent unsigned band.

ALLEN ROBERTS -Drums
STEVEN KAY- guitar (BROTHERS GRIM)
JASON KAY- vocals (BROTHERS GRIM)
