The Hottness - Stay Classy

The album opener is piss - a man taking a piss to be exact. A toilet flushes, and then like a blockage in the U-Bend, the toilet explodes! Some awesome screaming vocals backed by some over-exuberant guitar grinding takes over the rest of the first track, 'Straight Brown', on this ten track album. The instruments are so heavy that the more melodic vocals during the chorus and the bridge one will struggle to hear but it's almost better for it. The song culminates in exceptional guitar riffery after some really lowkey melodic vocalisation and is definitely a song you will be seeing on Kerrang soon. Excellent prospects as a single.

The third song, 'Dearly Departed', has some really excellent vocal ranges involved. The song starts with singing and the descends into insanity towards the end amid some terrifying drum pounding and some ungodly screaming - you must wonder how these people hit these volumes and pitches at full screech without causing their throats to bleed! An excellent toe tapping song. The intimidating and assured name of 'This City Is Ours' for number 4 is backed up with some laid back, almost lazy guitar riffs played so grungily. The slow pace giving plenty of room for Adam to scream at ear splitting volumes. The chorus has a much more melodic feel to it and it's impressive for a band to use three vocalists in their songs - it gives them an unorthodox sound and by changing it up they keep the songs fresh. Don't be mistaken though, this song is rich and any sound gluttons out there be warned - over ingestion will cause the shits, raw and painful!

Track six, 'The Ghost', is another good one, starting with a screeching guitar solo and carried on with some chanting vocals.. almost as if the vocalist themselves is in the middle of an exorcision to deal with the aforementioned ghost. The lyrics sound alot clearer over the instruments then in other songs and you realise the band have nothing to hide in that sense - they really can explore a wide range of vocals successfully. You can hear traces of Bullet For My Valentine in this song.. an awesome band to be likened too!

I had to look over track seven, 'Classy', to see if the song taken from the album title is another hit and it starts off in a very different way to the rest of their songs. The vocals sound like a man telling a story, gentle and sad. Accentuated with some awesome screaming though, the song is more low key then there others and is worth a listen as a contrast. Track 9, 'King Of Thieves' starts in a way that thieves off you your control in tapping your foot or not. It's an uncontrollable rhythm that should come with a health warning. This would be one of their best songs to play at a live set, so much raw energy from start to finish.

The album finishes on a titanic 7 minute epic titled 'Shes A Riot' which would definitely, following the penultimate track, cause coronaries galore. More raw energy and screaming exemplified by some of the best guitar usage you will hear in any band. This song at a gig is where you get your nose broken and, with blood filling the gaps in your teeth, you grin at your girlfriend. An awesome song to finish a very very good album from The Hottness. Hailing from North Carolina, you can expect to see these touring soon because if they don't there is going to be real uproar in the population. Awesome stuff.
