I guess when you approach something with low expectations, it feels much better to be surprised with good news, and TDWP are definitely good news for anyone who likes top quality metalcore. Boasting a 6 man lineup including two guitarists and, adding the different edge, James Baney on the keyboard/synthesis decks, TDWP are the quality version of Enter Shikari, but with less emphasis on the synth.. and you can understand why the live shows are so crazy with songs like 'Goats are Boats' and 'Reptar King Of The O-Zone'. Plagues is there most recent release, a 10 song album that hits the ground running and doesn't take a breather throughout. Mike Hranica takes vocals to another level, screaming his lungs out with enough venom to kill a blue whale but can interchange the lyrical duties with his guitarist Jeremy DePoyster when the vocals take on a more poignant tone, the almost heretical chanting sounding haunting against the backdrop of some massive axe slashing. The one negative thing you can say is that their sound is very similar throughout, and although they play the music that gets your blood running and your pupils dilated, any song has the exact same effect and it would be interesting to see tunes with a higher proportion of melodic vocals.. for people who like their hardcore strong and their whisky neat, this is the band for you. They are soon to be recently toured the UK and Europe and if they're coming to somewhere near you I would not miss out the experience they will give you. They will literally rock your socks off. “Plagues”
