The UK is in for a real treat this month as US artist, Jann Klose plays dates around the country on the back of the release of his album, Reverie. Yes, I can hear you utter the word ‘who?’ This Adonis of a man is fast becoming hot property in America. He has extended his tour to the UK and Germany to increase his overseas fan base – a brave move, but buy the CD or get to one of his gigs and you’re sure to become one of them. It is one of the best CDs I have heard all year. I was enchanted from start to finish.
Reverie starts with ‘Beautiful Dream’, and immediately you are swept into Jann’s world. ‘Hold Me Down’ is a real hip-swinger of a track, and ‘Doing Time’ will have you swirling the room in waltzing circular motions (OK, that may just be me). The album is beautifully produced and mixed with predominantly acoustic guitars and compliments of varied strings (including a Portuguese guitar), brass, and drums. The mix of such pure sounds has a gentle folk rock style with jazz influence throughout.
It would be madness to drop Jann Klose’s musical vibes into any one particular genre, but the overall sound will leave you deeply satisfied with a range of emotions explored and conflicts resolved. It is near impossible to choose a favourite from this CD. How would you select a piece of heaven? I think that I was most affected by the track ‘Remember Your Name’ from it’s passion rich lyrics, and embracing percussion arrangements. This is the one you will sing until your lungs ache.
Reverie, which means trance or to daydream, is an apt name for this outstanding album, as that is how I felt as I listened. By the end I was marking onto my calendar one of his UK dates. Hopefully Rock3 will be able swing me an interview slot, so look out for more Jann Klose news later on his month, unless the only thing I am able to ask this Alpha Male is if I can have his babies. In the meantime, I urge you to get to one of the dates listed on his website and grasp this opportunity to witness an immensely talented artist doing what he was born to do – entertain you and enthral your senses.
