Playing riff stoked testosterone rock the three boys from the aptly named town of Boulder are doing it their way, without the intervention of slick
PR men they have developed into a tight rocking machine of fresh importance. This is Rose Hill Drive's second album and already they have captured the live feel of their urgent three man assault and put it onto plastic.
The album gives us a nice round dozen songs and on first listen the skins sound like Ginger has found the elixir of youth and was sitting on the stool banging like ****, but of course it wasn't, it was a young man named Nathan Barnes, and as it is a three man band they are blessed with two who share the singing which helps to add a dimension to the songs that enhances and lifts.
The bass guitar of Jacob Sprout is so insistent it creates the rhythm all on its own which allows Nathan the freedom to be a free agent with the skins and I’m sure he is playing solo's a lot of the time, at other times he adds beef to the rhythm’s or the guitar riffs, and then we come to the source of the flame, Daniel Sprout, Jacobs brother is either in the trenches digging out complementary riffs to the R + B section or flashing steel licks and scorching guitar solo's, but this is a rock n roll band and they don't have pretensions just the zest of exuberance that manifests through their music.
'Moon Is The New Earth' is an album that has songs that will grab you immediately while others will get you on the second play, an album for all seasons.
