Not knowing much about the Detroit death metal scene I was unsure of what I was going to get, besides a severe battering of my ear drums, what I actually got was yes, a severe battering of my eardrums, but not only that, facing me was a band I would of bet my mortgage on not being a metal band, they look as far from that as possible, all fronted by the happiest, yes, happiest looking vocalist I’ve seen, his long hair has gone, he’s a lot heavier ( sounds familiar !!!! ) but Trevor Strnad seems to be having a real good time.

Planting himself at the front of the stage and taking command as any true frontman should do and getting totally immersed into the character for the duration of the song as he delivers his death metal persona, the band mirror Trevor’s energy and deliver with melodic rhythm, the wrecking lead of Brian Eschbach, backed by the thumping Shannon Lucas (ex all that remains ) , TBDM are currently on a short euro tour before they head off back to the states for a grueling forty day tour with a gig a night, that’s right it may have rained for forty days to destroy the earth last time, but The Black Dahlia Murder are going to try and match it with Death Metal!.. so we are the warm up, but the band are tight and its all an impressively displayed violent assault and yes, I’ve enjoyed my Detroit death metal experience.
