The Cage The Elephant sound is a party sound, a party sound steeped in the sounds of the South, and coming from Kentucky it must be in their blood 'cause it is such a natural exuberance. The album opens with the bands stomping 'In One ear' followed by 'James Brown' and the current single release 'Aint No Rest For The Wicked' while 'Tiny Little Robots' is a throwback to the early Doors sound then 'James Brown' also has that sixties party rawness but both songs have Matt's irrepressible leering voice that gives rock such a bad name amongst the perfect moral rightous, 'Lotus' is given the same sing along party south style but with dance rhythms and a pinch of Santana guitars to tie it all up.

The one thing that you begin to understand with this album is that expect the unexpected but expect a good time, because these boys just love to make you boogie party. I am not going to name drop to much as it maligns the quality of this band but their sound is anti mainstream without actually saying it, they just feel like Rock 'n Roll should feel like.

Now I ain't saying that CTE are our Rock n Roll saviours but its great to have fun again! So after that lets get back to the music, Track nine 'Back Stabbing Betty' has more of the bands dance rhythms but laid over with a oh so nice dirty guitar while Matt imparts more swing with his vocals, I know I have missed out a few tracks but hell don't you want to be surprised!.. but the guys finish the album with the song 'Free Love' and I would like to say that Cage The Elephant has a guitar that can sound like 'Krieger/Santana' that the album has eleven great songs that should be played loud and if you don't like it, then I pity you...
