Opens with cinematic landscapes of electronica ambience underlay with melodic rock beats and then layered with the pervading hard metallic chords of experimental math guitars and the roaring vocals of Adam Ralph, using chugging distorted riffs mixed with twinkling guitar melodies BTS seem to create an atmospheric/emotional sound that is metal but not metal as we are used to.
Although this is a five track EP the second track is ambient filler made I’m sure to set you up for the third track 'Pure' which is more of the atmospheric metallic landscapes of the first song 'Chrysalis', while the forth track 'Growth' is more of the scene setting electonica before the explosive finale of 'Time' (the undoing) with its opening of unadulterated emotional rage before presenting bouts of melodic rationale interspersed with frothing rage this last song was not long enough for me as it felt that the full potential of the setting was not explored.
Citing influences as diverse as Tool, Isis, Deftones, Meshuggah, Cult of Luna and 65 Days of static, you can see and hear why they are what they are. Been an experimental band can be hard to maintain and earn a living from, but if they can continue to write and
record material of this quality they will succeed in creating an audience and fan base that should keep them in beer and crisps for however long they want it to be.
