Tribute To Nothing - Breathe How You Want To Breathe

Tribute To Nothing are one of those bands that have always been around, from their early days as DIY punks to their later success on the UK and Euro punk festival circuit they continue to be a relevant band that have never compromised their ethics which is
why their fan base has remained strong, and now with their latest release 'Breath How You want To Breath' the title which emphasis the bands continued stance, TTN are beginning to stretch their writing talents with this latest release still with the angry aggressive riffs but with more melody been injected into the songs and the vocals becoming more tuneful with less hardcore style and breathless passion the songs are more easy to comprehend but the message remains the same which is TTN's strong point.

The album has ten excellent tracks and with the songs exceeding 3 or more minutes it shows the bands mature song writing over their contempories with the ability to keep it interesting longer then the average punk song of two and a half minutes. Opening the album with the title song 'Breath How You Want To Breath' it comes with an interesting melodic line before belting into the passionate statement that the song warrants and then returning to the melodies of the opening section, a good start to the album. The second track 'Day In, Day Out' continues the melodic rock sound but still manages to inject their passionate punk feel with a few aggressive riffs and the repetitive choral chant towards the end, another great song.

'Another Brick Wall' is more the old TTN but is a song written for the style and comes across well with the band showing that they haven’t lost it.. but the bands song writing is maturing and they continue to mix it up with the the forth song 'Whether Your Ready or Not' and its turn of almost alt rock tempo and the same for 'Broken In Hand' the fifth song but with TTN's aggressive edge you couldn't mistake the songs for anything else except TTN songs. The rest of the album is standard TTN fare so is great for the existing fans and we have been introduced to the new melodic style which can only enhance the bands reputation going forward. So all in all a good album with hints of the future on display that is going to help the band keep existing fans happy and introduce themselves to a wider audience.
