My Awesome Compilation - Frontiers

With a three year gap between the MAC's first album 'Actions' and 'Frontiers' the bands sophomore album you could be forgiven for wondering if their musical style has changed. But in that sense MAC disappoint still writing great melodies and hooks and retaining that intelligent knack of articulating life’s observations but the members of My Awesome Compilation have matured and with a lot more life experiences to draw upon. With the success of 'Actions' and tours that sent them around the world with acts like 'The Darkness', 'A', Fallout Boy and Funeral For A Friend' and the exposure that came with that has helped shaped what MAC have written about this time around.

Opening the album with 'Red Is For Danger' which typifies the bands maturity in dealing with the frustration's and anger that come with success it has a darker feel to what you would expect from previous MAC songs but still with the melodic harmonies and that knack of encouraging you to sing along and is a great opener to the album and could easily be a future single, second up on 'Frontiers' is 'Ghosts On The Underground' another great song that is also going to be the first single from the album, with excellent energy and more of those MAC melodies this again is a harder song then what you would of experienced on 'Actions' but perfectly captures the growing sound that is 'My Awesome Compilation' . The third song 'Deal Me In' charges along like a car in GTA and deals with the desire for 'buzz' and could also be another single, in fact this album is sprinkled with chart friendly tracks and should stand the lads in good stead for another year of success.

The forth song 'The Theatre Room' diverges slightly from the bands punk sound and shows a glimpse of what the band could mature into, not yet I hope. The album has ten tracks and I can't fault any of them although the first four tracks are perhaps the most chart friendly the rest of the songs are not slouches with great melodies and hooks that are defiantly MAC songs of high order and if anything show more of the bands maturing
song writing abilities and their ability to stay relevant, this is an album that grabs you on the first listen and then grows on you even more.
