Brigade have come a long way since I first came across their demo EP and later debut album 'Lights', still with the ability to write catchy hooks and tuneful lyrics but on this showing the band have found a way to put punch into the sound and raise themselves to playing the type of rock music that has longevity built in and no longer the 'look at me' fad pop/rock that so many young bands get suckered into by the record labels looking for bubblegum single sales.
Will Simpson still projects breathless emotion into his vocals while at the same time he can now bring stadium power into the song with huge bellow busting lines displayed so effortlessly in this first single to come from the bands second album and the first with Caned & Able records who obviously can see the quality and potential in this strong writing band with all members able to contribute to the song writing.
So back to the single 'Pilot' and the 'B' side 'Yes It Is' which is strong enough to be rated a double 'A' side single, both songs showing the bands new style and power in excellent light, with huge guitar hooks and unforgettable tunes both songs once played are instantly recognisable and with their own distinctive style Brigade once heard will not be easily forgotten.
