I was a huge Rooster fan a couple of years back and went to more of their gigs than I dare to admit to, so when I was asked to review Chinastyle’s up and coming debut single release, I was delighted to see Ben Smyth in the band line up. On closer inspection, the band is made up of three other gifted musicians with impressive portfolios behind them. The result of this is a powerful and catchy melody with kick, which I have found myself singing in the shower after just a few plays.
The single is accompanied by a video, showcasing the band to introduce who they are, what they look like, and what they can do. No gimmicks or pointless effects, apart from a stylishly choreographed dancer in silhouette. This is not merely a debut, it is a sign of powerful marketing to prepare the public for what promises to be more to come. I look forward to hearing more this band and especially the prospect of a very exciting album and a string of gigs across the country. I’ll be the one on the front row gazing up adoringly at the bass player!
