The Sword, what can I say? no fuss , no **** heavy metal , formed in Austin, Texas in 03 by J D Cronsie , the sword deliver a deep dark heavy sound that dare I say it , remind me of early Sabbath !!
Rarely do I see / hear a band that get away with this ( by heavy I mean Iommi esque ) , however , these do , in abundance .
After checking them out on MySpace I knew the sound they create, it was just the transition into a live set that shows true class, I’m pleased to say they didn’t disappoint on any level. There are no big egos on stage, the band just go about their duty to the loyal following that are also enjoying this performance. This year sees the release of their 2nd album "Gods of Earth", and from what I have seen and heard so far, I am really looking forward to getting my hands on a copy.
I don’t want to bark on about Rock3’s one to watch and please all the pr & record labels, I want to say it as it is, good or bad, all that said, for a band that are pretty much un-heard of these boys show great promise and I am certainly going to be tracking their development into a major player ……..
