The album opens with an electro mix intro which completely threw me..
The album opens with 'Without Arms' and follows the moshers routine of powerful slowish build up before exploding into thrashing elbows and noise and then slamming on the breaks while everyone looks around to see who is still standing and bleeding before it repeats, so a good balanced track with excellent vocals from Ryan and with tight explosions from the drum and bass ably supported and contrasted by the angular chops and squirts from the guitar of Taylor, so a very good opener proper. Then we get another of those little electro tracks called 'Interlude1' which means that there is at least another somewhere on the album!
The next song 'Guns, girls and wildnights' opens up with a quality lamentable sound before we get the powerful multi explosive blasts and we are into another excellent track with some great contrasts, rabid drumming and mosh hypnosis using some well created repetive electro noise. The fifth track or third song 'Broken Within' gives more of the same experience of great vocals, well balanced screams and the angular but melodic metal sound that the band produce.
On track six 'Unspoken Depravity' (song four) my ears pricked up, this was unexpected I thought as we got an opener of twin vocalists one being female and Taylor showing that he has hidden depths to his vocals, this is a powerful song and something fresh and new, the song even had an electro sound swirling around the twin pillars of male/female characters, all very sophisticated for a metal/hardcore band and then we are bounced into another song 'Take The Blood From The Stone', again the band have changed gear and lifted the ante to what went on before; with some excellent fat drum riffs, screams, roars, Taylor doing well with his singing voice and some well balanced electro swirls and amongst all this we had time for a little head nodding.. excellent stuff.
The eighth track again stands out as something fresh 'Breaking Hearts Beating' with its
explosive passions and solid heavy sound that will make BFMV Jealous as hell and at six minutes long it gives time for the band to bring all guns to bear, we then slip into another electro short track 'Interlude2' before treading gingerly into another song of passions 'Bury The Lies Of The Dead' again showing that the band can write 'em and perform them.
So we have an album that caters to the attitude and violence of the mosh pit as well as dealing with the aftermath of passionate relationships. Superb album for a debut of this genre and 12 Gauge Alliance have shown that they have the talent to take it so much further then anyone else.
