Clouds over California opens with a stonking great riff that gets your head banging straight away this is a single that was culled from the bands album 'The Last Kind Words' which was released in 2007 while the single itself 'Clouds Over California' was released in the middle of October 2007 when DevilDriver were in the UK doing a tour. DevilDriver have improved a lot since their early albums, but they still play a pumped up heavy metal straight out of the twenty first century, there is no pretence of classic metal, just thunderous thumping thrash speed heavy metal that grabs you by the throat and shakes you in a way a bulldog would do to a three day old kitten. COC is a firm fan favourite and gets played at all the shows, this was seen at Download last year when a huge mosh pit formed that took up most of the first fifty metres (yards to the old gits) in front of the stage. The band have a style that is based around huge short chuffing/banging riffs that are timed to match your best efforts of head banging utilising twin guitars that thunder in unison but all done in the best melodic manner, and then they throw in a few guitar solos straight out of the text book to garnish the meal..
