I was sent the single as an mp3 file and as I clicked play the acoustic guitar began, accompanied by the piano, I closed my eyes and allowed the sentiment of the lyrics to pull me into the world of the vocalist. Four minutes and thirty two seconds later I was still sat with my eyes shut, swaying, and with quite a lump in my throat. I defy anyone who has loved, tried to hang on, and lost, not to feel the same by the end of this mesmerising and beautiful piece of music.
As further strings and drums blended in to perfectly take hold of the pace, you continue to be carried away and find yourself willing the object of this song’s desire to have a change of heart. The passionate prose is performed in both pleading tones and commanding crescendos throughout, and although its deeply emotional, it ends with a satisfyingly gentle outplay. Is it worth the money? Oh yes, but keep the tissues to hand! RedBoxBlue are London based, but this hormonal reviewer hopes they venture up to the Midlands very soon for a live experience - my waterproof mascara is at the ready.
RedBoxBlue‘s ‘I Try’ is to be released on 8th June, so dig into your pockets and buy an excellent debut ballad by this soon to be snapped up unsigned band.
