Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster Live @Birmingham

Doing this job of the evening can be very rewarding, it always is from a photography side of things, however musically you do get some nights when you think, I'm not gon'na enjoy this, whilst driving to Birmingham the later thought was in my head.

I’m down in the pit waiting for the main act, Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster a couple a minutes later they casually stroll onto the stage, a bit of fine tunning, and then, bang, right between the eyes, full on in your face southern rock n roll, I’m taken back, what’s happening here, the cameras flying through the shots and all I’m thinking is that these boys are good, I mean really good.

They are basically a bunch of hillbillies that have been blessed with a lead man that has you jaw wide open…. Dallas Taylor works the venue from front to back, in the crowd, back to the stage, he’s every where, musically they are bang on … ripping through the tracks at an all to quick pace … its too easy for Dallas, as a matter of fact its all to easy for them all, I wouldn’t be surprised if MATSOD became massive, the potential is defiantly there …it’s a good gig, totally the opposite to my thoughts when driving in …

Thanks to Andy at ferret records, I have now received the cd, I've gota say it’s even better than the live event. It’s got a deep classic rock root that’s morphed with violent backwoods influence, there’s only ffwd track on it …Wylie, but that’s because it’s followed by the classic,” Death in a Alcoholic” backed up with, ” memories of the grove”, “plenty strong and plenty wrong” the last couple of tracks, tale of the runaways & the day hell broke loose at Sicard hollow bring you down to a kind of early pink floyd/ country sound that again I find that I keep repeating them, it’s a bit addictive. you’ve probably gathered by now that I’ve enjoyed my Maylene experience …..You tube um, my space um, whatever you do, find um …..they are quality and they will be big ……
