An Ocean between us consists of a nice round dozen tracks and opens with the now standard intro.. this one is just a simple little melody played quietly with the amps flat out and the feedback shaking the dust out of the cracks on the wall, then it bursts into full spawn with 'NOTHING LEFT' while another nice little melodic riff weaves it's way around the explosive drums and thunderous roars of the vocals, as we get into the track the little riff gets shoved aside by another little guitar solo... I love guitar.
And so it continues with track three the albums title 'An Ocean Between Us' this time the opening shuns the little melodic riff and beats you with the full force of post hardcore metal while the vocals become more gentle and harmonious, so a nice contrast between track two and track three.
I am not going to spoil the story for you as will need to get this album yourself, but suffice to say that the album continues to surprise with its twists and turns from brutal vocals to gentle and the same with the instrumentation, but all done in extreme and explicit taste.
Tracks to own, 'Nothing Left' and 'Comfort Betrays'.
