The 4th album to come from the Scottish boys is as exciting as any fan could have hoped. Tracks go beyond the 3 minute radio gems that other bands so often adhere too. I did wonder why the vocals start out with a generic accent and half way through the third track ‘Who’s got a match,’ the Scottish accent gets accentuated, strange but it works.
Tracks like ‘Semi-Mental’ and ‘Saturday Superhouse’ are stomping and could encourage the laziest of fans to get up and dance.
My only problem is the amount of slower tracks, I was hoping for my energy but too often the mood is slowed down. It’s a great display of the bands versatility but I can’t help but wish we had more groves like Saturday Super House.
All in all it’s a solid British album and if you enjoy the more melodic stuff mixed with your thumping beats, this is for you. It’s a move away from the post-nirvana rock that Biffy reveled in previously, and it’s a change in the right direction.
It's a good album in every way, and putting aside my desire for more energy, I acknowledge the slower tracks are still damn good.
