Floors and Walls are very much the new underground sound breaking through from the UK. A master stroke between Rock and Rap that could not be further from the past sounds you may have heard. I’m not talking Papa Roach – Infest or Limp Bizkit here, this is something new.
It’s an English sound through and through. The lyrics tell stories of the youth in modern England, rap with a purpose outside of ‘bling’ and ho’s . Grooves that wouldn’t be out of place on Chili Pepper albums and vocal melodies that Head Automatica would be proud of.
When bands merge conflicting styles so well they cross social boundaries, there’s no shame in a rocker enjoy this in the same way a rap fan would. When asked to describe their sound, guitarist Dom McNulty says “Arctic Monkeys on Speed” and you can see what he means.
Grab this album with both hands and pray they release more as soon as possible! I rarely give out a 5 out of 5 for albums, this one was never in doubt.
Keep an eye out for Floors and Walls gigs, we’ll be posting them whenever we find them!
