Opening the long awaited full length album IDEFI push the boat out and provide a massive fifteen track feast to satisfy your hunger. Opening with 'Horror' I was at first taken aback as it was a departure from the bands previous powerful renditions that I was used to, and at first I was truly horrified but of 'cause it was a trick to make me think the band had departed from their usual quality sound although I later changed my mind and accepted that the band are more then an in your face modern metal merchant The vicious hard riffery of 'Incite The Sunrise' the second track, kicks the album into life and then with 'Truth Or Dare' the band come back to their best with power and rib kicking pulses of metal keeping the vocals melodic but roughing up the edges with some well placed roars. With fifteen tracks the band have scope to expand beyond mere melodic brutality and with some well crafted lyrics it gives Chris Maher room to stretch his vocals which he does on 'Tunnels Rat' as well as a decent piece of solo work by Tom Clements. This album swings from bruising staccato riffs through to the slower paced traditional metal and back up again to running guitar solo's of the 'Closing Season'. I am almost tempted to say that 'In The Light Of A New Day' is a masterpiece of melodic rampant punchy modern metal, but in the usual English understatement I will content myself with "This is pretty good" and play it loud many many times until the neighbours come round with a bottle of beer.
