Coheed and Cambria New Album Year of the Black Rain for April & Sign To Roadrunner
Roadrunner Records is delighted to announce the licensing of ground-breaking, multi-million selling band, Coheed and Cambria for the world excluding North America (where they remain with Columbia/Sony).
Highly anticipated new album ‘Year of the Black Rainbow’ is set for an April 2010 release. Intended as the origin story, or the prequel, to the band’s previous four studio albums, it will likely be the final tale in the ongoing concept of ‘The Amory Wars’.
Production is in the very capable hands of Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction) and Joe Barresi (QOTSA, Clutch). Coheed and Cambria say, “They have helped us evolve our sound to be more powerful and dynamic than ever and we think it’s definitely our best work to date. Can’t wait ‘til you can experience it!” Some confirmed song titles include ‘Here We are Juggernaut’, ‘The Broken’, ‘Pearl of the Stars’, and ‘Guns of Summer’.
In addition to a standard CD release, the album will also be available as a part of a deluxe package that will contain a novel of the same name. Not a graphic novel, but a full 300+ page prose novel, which will tell the origins of Coheed and Cambria, and much more. Co-writing the book with frontman Claudio Sanchez is acclaimed sci-fi/graphic novelist Peter David. Full details will be revealed in due course.
Comments the band, “We are very excited! We think Roadrunner will make our music more widely available as well as open up the potential for us to come to countries we rarely or never have been to before.” Look for European dates & festivals from next Spring.
