Ireland's King of Pop Fran King To Release Second CD

12/4/2009 - Philadelphia, PA - Fran King "could teach doctoral studies in Pop craftsmanship!" raved one US reviewer about King’s 2006 solo debut album 'Beautification'. One of Ireland's finest rising stars, Fran has been praised for his song-writing: "Melody driven, thought provoking, and well constructed intelligent triple A Pop/Rock." On November 10, 2009 top reissue label Renaissance Records in conjunction with ItsAboutMusic.com will be releasing Fran King's highly anticipated second CD 'My Sweet Elixir'.

Fran King was a founding member of Beach, an Irish based indie band once hyped by Billboard magazine as Ireland’s next big thing in the late '90s. The band had several Top 10 hits in Ireland before disbanding in 1999. A year later, Fran began tentative steps towards recording his aforementioned highly acclaimed debut solo album. He also wrote and recorded two short film soundtracks (one award winning), and has worked in the studio / live with Sir George Martin, Tears For Fears, Sugababes (UK), Nick Seymour (Crowded House) and Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze) to name a few. King also released another heavily praised album in December 2008, titled 'Under the Stars' (itsaboutmusic.com) with his side project Sunflow. The album continues to attract attention, with critics comparing King’s voice and talents with that of legendary artists Harry Nilsson and Paul McCartney. Fran King just completed his eagerly awaited second solo album, his first since signing to Renaissance Records, titled 'My Sweet Elixir'. Produced and performed by Fran, the CD features an array of guest musicians.

This is what the music press has been saying about Fran King:

"Sun kissed shimmery pop/rock, equal parts Brendan Benson and Elvis Costello with old school love songs, infectious...Hot Press (Irish Music Industry Bible)

"Sublimely beautiful songs that slow burn their way to your heart”... “Dublin Mail” (Irish Press)

"Somewhat of a rarity these days, strong melodies, a very fine debut...” Daily Mirror” (Irish Press)

"A very dry vocal sound brings to mind Emitt Rhodes and McCartney. Great melodies and chord changes prevail." (Melody Magazine, US)

Fran King 'My Sweet Elixir', will be available from Amazon, iTunes and your local retailer on November 10th. Other titles scheduled for release by Renaissance Records include Graham Parker & The Rumour 'Live In San Francisco 1979', Network - s/t and 'Nightwork', Duke Jupiter 'White Knuckle Ride', Phoenix - s/t and 'In Full View' (ex-Argent), City Boy 'It's Personal', Unicorn - 'Blue Pine Trees', 'Too Many Crooks' (prod. by David Gilmour), Nick Gravenites 'Bluestar'.
