illuminatus Announce Tour and EP Release For September
Multi-national post-metal quartet illuminatus have confirmed 9 dates for September as part of a co-headlined UK tour with Yorkshire metal legends Rise To Addiction.
The tour will be the fourth major tour following the release of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Wrath Of The Lambs’ and builds on their successful support of Texan metal legends Ministry (C-U-LATour) and L.A.’s My Ruin (Religiosi Tour) in 2008, and the Insects & Attitude Tour in support of Gibraltar’s Breed 77 and Norway’s Susperia in May 2009.
The tour will coincide with the much anticipated release of the band’s new studio EP, The Rising Tide, on 11 September, which will include new song material recorded at Blast Studios, Newcastle, with Adam Sinclair (Therapy?).
illuminatus’ previous collaborators include producers Harvey Birrell (Therapy?, Ministry) and Pete Coleman (AC/DC, Paradise Lost). The band’s music has been compared to Anathema, Paradise Lost, Deftones and Cult of Luna and described as “melodic, atmospheric, powerful” (Rocksound), “soul-shaking dynamics” (Metal Hammer) and “serious music for serious people” (Kerrang!).
Biography
illuminatus' debut album 'The Wrath Of The Lambs' – first released in 2008 via Ant Hill Records and re-released in 2009 via Copro Records – has already gained the attention of the UK music press, with great reviews in Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and countless online webzines. Tracks from the album have also gained airplay on Bruce Dickinson's BBC6 Rock Show, and the band has been playlisted on TotalRock Radio, gaining regular airplay on rotation.
The band’s touring history includes the UK leg of Ministry's final world tour (C-U-LaTour) in May/June 2008, My Ruin’s UK and Ireland tour (Religiosi Tour) in October 2008 and the Insects & Attitude Tour in support of Breed77 and Susperia in May 2009. Previous festival appearances by illuminatus include the Bloodstock Festival, as well as the Bulldog Bash and the Fordham Music Festival.
In the summer of 2007 illuminatus stormed to the finals of Famecast, an international talents showcase featuring hundreds of bands from around the world. The band was flown out to Austin, Texas, where they performed a high-energy set to a television audience which was broadcast live to millions of people, earning the band unprecedented exposure in the United States and beyond.
Following their collaborations on previous EPs with producers Harvey Birrell (Therapy?, Ministry) and Pete 'Pee-Wee' Coleman (AC/DC, Paradise Lost), the music of illuminatus has already drawn comparisons to bands such as Anathema, Paradise Lost, Deftones and Cult of Luna, earning the band significant acclaim and respect from all sections of the national and international music press, whilst gaining particularly glowing reviews from Germany, France and Scandinavia for their unique brand of melodic and powerful music.
With The Wrath Of The Lambs now on nationwide release through Copro Records, illuminatus continue to roll out their War Machine throughout 2009, having just confirmed the release of their new studio EP ‘The Rising Tide’ – recorded at Blast Studios, Newcastle, with Adam Sinclair (Therapy?) – for 11 September and a co-headline tour of the UK with Rise to Addiction from 10 to 25 September.
