Placebo Album Battle of The Sun Released Date 8th June and Announce Warm up Dates
Placebo have announced the release of their brand new single, “For What It’s Worth” on June 1st. This will be the first single to be taken from their upcoming album “Battle For The Sun”, (released on June 8th) and will be given its exclusive play in the UK on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show on April 20th.
The single will be available in three formats - 7”, CD and Digital Download - featuring a cover of Nick Kershaw’s “Wouldn’t It Be Good” as the B-side. The single track will be made available to fans in the UK exclusively on iTunes following its first play on Zane Lowe.
With a thirteen year history that takes in five studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, Placebo are still brimming with new ideas. ‘For What It’s Worth’ embodies the urgency, optimism and colour that characterises the new album.
The band will be showcasing new material on their three sold-out UK warm up dates, as well as playing Reading/Leeds Festival and RockNess in Scotland:
Saturday 9th May - Sheffield O2 Academy
Sunday 10th May - Bournemouth Opera House
Tuesday 12th May - London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire
This summer sees the band headlining festivals across Europe, including:
Rock Werchter in Belgium, Poland’s Heineken Open’er Festival, the Arras Festival in France, Sweden’s Siesta Festival, Paleo and Moon & Stars Festivals both in Switzerland, Rockwave Festival in Greece, Sziget Festival in Hungary, Pinkpop in Holland, Spain’s Bilbao Live, Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany, Norway’s Quart Festival and Provinssirock in Finland, touring a six-piece band including a violinist.
