FFAF Have this to say about the cancellations:
05.27.2008 - FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND FORCED TO CANCEL EUROPEAN FESTIVAL APPEARANCES IN JUNE
It is with great regret that Funeral For A Friend have been forced to cancel a run of European festival shows scheduled for June.
The band are mid way through recording work on their first album for Join Us Records, their own label, in Cardiff. Technical problems that have appeared only after the recording process had started have necessitated a change of studio and simultaneously therefore an increased workload in a shorter space of time on both band and producer. The result is that the band are forced against their wishes to withdraw from the festivals.
'We are all excited about heading back to mainland Europe,’ says frontman Matt Davies. 'Sadly we are faced with no choice but to change our original plans for the upcoming festivals due to the changes in our recording schedule so we can make sure that this album is finished on time and sounding amazing.’
Bassist Gareth Davies adds: 'We had been looking forward to playing these festivals at the very end of recording as the perfect way to introduce some new tunes alongside the old ones. But because of the technical problems we've had we now have no choice but to work through the month and twice as hard to get everything finished to schedule. Being your own boss sounds easy but it actually makes you that much more focussed and more determined to succeed. There is no-one else to blame if things go wrong. The bottom line is if we don't meet
the deadlines we are under we won't get the record out this year.'
'As much as we hate letting people down, doing those shows would mean us not being able to release this album until next year,' reinforces drummer/vocalist Ryan Richards. 'Unfortunately these things happen, but we are in the process of finalising a full run of European dates around the release of the album at the end of the year which we'll be announcing soon. Sincerest apologies to anyone who bought tickets to see us but we'll be making it up to you before the year is out.'
The affected shows are:
Fri 13 Jun: Interlaken, CH – Greenfield festival
Sun 15 Jun: Nickelsdorf, AUS – Nova Rock
Mon 16 Jun: Milan, IT – Rock The Week
Wed 18 Jun: Bologna, IT – Rock The Week
Funeral For A Friends as yet untitled 4th album will be released later this year.
