2007 - Josh James about 'Wolfbiker' album release on Metal Blade records

Hey, Josh! How are you? “Wolfbiker” is just about to be released! Congrats, it’s just a killer album! Could you please give us a short idea on what “Wolfbiker” is all about?

Wolfbiker is the idea that you are in charge of your own life. You are capable of anything and everything that you want to do. Don't sell yourself short, don't conform, don't follow the trends just because everyone else is following them. Don't let anyone tell you how to live your life. It is also a werewolf that ride a motorcycle.

”Bad Energy Troll”, “Chaney Can’t Quite Riff Like HELMET’s Page Hamilton” or “Where There Is Fire We Will Carry Gasoline” – what cool but also unusual song titles! What’s behind them?

“Bad Energy Troll” comes from a movie called “Grandma's Boy”. Craig, guitar player, would always say that phrase and I guess when we wrote that song at practice we just quick named it that and we just never changed it, ha. In a review of our last record it said “Chaney (Craig's last name) can't quite riff like HELMET’s Page Hamilton but he sure can try to sing like him". We thought that was hilarious, the person reviewing us was trying to say that we suck ass at guitar and we try to rip off HELMET’s vocal style. We do suck at guitar but i don't think HELMET has had a huge impact on the bands sound, although a few people in the band are fans of HELMET. And “Where there Is Fire We Will Carry Gasoline” is a title that fits the lyrics I think. It's a song about being stuck in a world with people that don't see things the way you do and try to pressure you to be just like them.

Also great artwork by the way – who did it and what is it meant to express exactly?

The artwork was done by a local artist named Shaun Thurston. We wanted something dark and pissed looking but at the same time have an emotional feeling to it. I think he did an amazing job, we are all very happy with the way it came out.

You’re now on Metal Blade via Tim Lambesis’ (AS I LAY DYING) sublabel High Impact Recordings – how did everything workout so far?

I think Tim knew that we had a bad relationship with Eulogy Recordings, so he started talking to us seeing if we were interested in working something out and moving over to Metal Blade and High Impact. We got together with Eulogy and worked everything out and here we are!

You just did an exclusive show on Germany’s Pressure Fest! How was it and will you head back to Europe soon?

Pressure fest was amazing! Thanks to everyone who came out and watched our set. We love playing Europe, especially the festivals. We will be heading back to Europe in December on Persistence Tour with HATEBREED, AGNOSTIC FRONT, IGNITE, DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR and SWORN ENEMY.

What bands would you name if it comes to your main influences?

PROPAGANDHI, U2, JIMMY EAT WORLD, SHAI HULUD, FOO FIGHTERS… we are influenced by a huge variety of bands.

How would you convince someone of your band that has never heard of you before?

With a gun or knife.

Thx for your time, dude! Any last words to say?

Thanks for the interview!!!!
