From all the way over the pond, The Spill Canvas answer some questions for Rock3 and fans alike.
How did the band first meet each other? Nick- I started playing as Spill Canvas when I was about 17, and then I figured it'd be nice to have some people to jam with, then it turned into a full band sort of thing. I've known all the guys for a few years, and it just seemed natural.
What bands were your greatest influences? Collective- saves the day, further seems forever, death cab for cutie, squeeze, jim croce, ida, iron & wine, micheal jackson, killswitch engage
When did you first start playing an instrument and what was it? Dan- I started playing the viola when I was about 10
Joe- I think I picked up drums when I was about 12
Scott- Drums when I was maybe 13-then bass around 19
Nick- Piano when I was about 13-guitar then as well
What was the bands most memorable gig to date? Collective- There was this show in Buffalo, NY with our friends/labelmates, This Day & Age. It was a sold out crowd of around 850. Almost everyone in the place knew the words to every song. But that's just an example-there are too many to specify.
If you could choose to share a stage with another band who would it be.? Collective- Probably Saves the Day, or anyone of our many influences
What do you do to relax when on tour? Nick- I play nerdy video games
Dan- I read.....and listen to music
Joe- Read
Scott- Sleep, and music.
Which country would you like to spend time gigging in.? Collective- Australia would be cool-but we are partial to our homeland of
the US
What is your favourite song of all time? Collective- Too hard to answer....
You have a new album in the works is there a title and release date confirmed yet? Collective- Yes, we have a new disc slotted for a rough release of July/05-we're all pretty excited
What is the bands ideal goal? Collective- To write/play music we love, and hope people like it
What equipment ( manufactuer ) does each band member currently use? Dan- I have a custom made guitar and I play an Orange Amp
Joe- DW drums & Zildjian cymbals all the way
Nick- I also have a custom made guitar and I play a Koch Amp
Scott- Gallien-Krueger Bass head, Ampeg cab, Fender P-Bass
Who has the worst habit? Collective- Dan is a filthy smoker, that's about it....
