Hey, psonally i think most modern music is crap exept slipknot and korn, oldschool is so much better, i hate it when modern rock uses metophors , theres no meaning. they just want there fans to discuss what the song is really about when really there is no meaning of the song, the words just sound cool

I like most of the bands you've listed, as well as a lot of modern stuff so I couldn't pick one or the other, both offer great things!

AC~DC - head nodding beer guzzling fantastic good time metal band, 5 great albums, no pretensions about this band, rucking good band!

twsted sister - mainly average tunes , good showmen 2 -3 outstanding songs and a bag of decent songs (that I can't even remember now ) enjoyed been rockstars

led zeppelin - awesome genius, no one has ever got close!! to match them for song quality, vocals, riffs, lyrics.. just outstanding rock genius

aerosmith.. couple of great albums (1 legendary) , great vocalist, a few good riffs, rode it hard all the way - enjoyed been rockstars

kiss .. started off all show and crap, but got better, destroyer best album, struggled to match it later but prolific showmen and rode it all the way - enjoyed been rockstars

ozzy osbourne.. great vocalist and knows how to pen a great metal song, rode it harder then most and was the force behind Black Sabbath one of the greatest legends - enjoyed been a rockstar

marilyn manson - huh.. couple of average songs with a fasionable interesting vocal style.. out of fashion now!

iron maiden.. outstanding metal band broken every record going.. and keeps going, no pretensions big ear grinning axe work, good time and fun, earned the right to be called legendary

warrent - ?

guns an roses\ had quality but like all US bands get lost amongst the dollars and the yes men, this band lost the passion to make good music and got passionate about what people said about them.. wasted it, but great talents, 3 great albums

nirvana - couldn't match the hype but had a talent that got lost, should have not worried what others had to say and just wrote what they had to say.. but really a one man band.. 2 outstanding songs..RIP

judas priest: great musicians could always find a good riff wrote 3 -4 great albums and a pile of decent ones, stayed true to their music and deserve to be called legendary

van halen - rock/pop band with a metal image?...

alice cooper - respect! legendary metal act

megadeath - 2 -3 good songs riding it well

pink floyd - quality that stayed true to the music and their ideals.. legendary, respect give 'em all the accolades you want.. they deserve them

The quality of a good song should be as good to listen to now as it was when first released ( more then 6 years old) if it stands the test of time then it was a good song.. if the band had an album or more that sounds as good now as it did when first released then the band was damned good, Led zep released seven original albums the first six still sound brilliant and that was 30 years ago!! outstanding quality..

But I would also add to my list of Legends

Deep Purple ( talented musicians who gelled into a genius unit to make a couple of outstanding legendary albums)

Black Sabbath ( see ozzy above.. but 5 outstanding legendary albums )

Ten Years After ( single genius who shone when surrounded by good musicians - Alvin Lee)

Hawkwind ( A genius who surrounded himself with outstanding talents and sometimes genius like himself.. Dave Brook )

Deftones.. 2 outstanding songs so far...

Old school have a longer shelf life and make music that seems to transcend time where's most new bands have one good album make so much money they do not have the quality or inclination to carry on writing music that matches up with what caught our attention in the first place, modern bands just go through the motions once they have made a pile of money.. not that I blame them you have to be prety well fired up to make great music all the time, but that is what marks out the genius from the lucky breakrs.. fasionable bands one album wonders... Nirvanna... Guns n roses. good bands evolve... and get better
