RedGorilla Music Fest

RedGorilla Music Fest launched five years ago as the DreamScapers Artist Showcase and has grown each year under that name. In 2007, over 200 artists participated in shows at venues on 6th Street in Austin, Texas. In 2008, the event will host over 300 bands and solo artists; still its mission remains the same: to promote up-and-coming independent music in all genres and help independent artists further their careers. RedGorilla showcases will take place from Wednesday, March 12, to Sunday, March 16, in clubs on 6th Street, right in the heart of all the action. The event continues to be a “No Badge Required” event. It is free to attend and is open to the general public.

Our much anticipated September summer fest Bestival returns once again to the Isle of Wight’s picturesque Robin Hill Country Park on the 5, 6, 7th September 2008, for another rip-roaring feast of merriment, mirth and musical treats. Expect frolicking aplenty as we dress up to boogie on down for our 5th mind-blowing spectacular. Exhibiting more than a touch of his famed good taste, Bestival curator Rob da Bank, has excelled himself once again with a truly stratospheric line-up of musical legends and super-hot scene setters.

The undisputed kings of ethereal dream-pop, My Bloody Valentine, will be headlining the main stage on the Friday night for their only English festival appearance this year. With their famed incandescent wall-of-sound and tremulous grooves creating a uniquely powerful live experience, My Bloody Valentine’s return after more than 15 years is highly anticipated and their headline set is sure to mark yet another magical moment in Bestival’s burgeoning folklore.

As if that alone wasn’t enough to whet your appetite for this year’s festival feast, electronic enigma Aphex Twin will be unleashing his West Country wizardry for an English festival exclusive headlining the Big Top. Whether he’s bathing the crowd in the analogue bubbles of his pioneering acid techno, or selecting his revered ambient works, one thing is for sure, you can always expect the unexpected from Mr. Richard D James.

We are also massively thrilled that living legend George Clinton & Funkadelic / Parliament will be landing their mothership at Robin Hill to make their Bestival debut! One of music’s true originals, George will be laying down some booty shaking psychedelic p-funk to bring one festival under a groove.

And it doesn’t stop there, other acts confirmed so far for Bestival 2008 include Brazilian septet CSS, lead by the irrepressible Lovefoxxx, who are certain to rock the Bestival faithful, headlining the Big Top on Friday, with their ever infectious blend of indie rock and electro. Original electro-pop pioneers The Human League will be playing their classic Dare! album in its entirety in the Big Top before treating the crowd to a full on hits set on the main stage on Saturday and the nostalgia factor will be well and truly ramped-up a main stage set from synth-punk godfather Gary Numan.

The cutting edge is catered for by the DIY stylings of Ebony Bones, Foals, dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Sportsday Megaphone, Christopher D Ashley and the arcade assault of Crystal Castles. Also making appearances will be the live drum ‘n’ bass juggernaut of Pendulum, plus jangling indie legends The Wedding Present, Kim Deal’s tour-de-force The Breeders, the soul-tronica of Jamie Lidell, a live set from Acid House pioneers 808 State, Worldbeat marvel Baaba Mal, the first lord of Reggae Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Gallic love machine Sebastien Tellier, a right old cockney knees-up from Chas & Dave and Transglobal Underground’s ethno-techno. And, of course, the joy of Bestival will be spread by our dear Main stage hosts The Cuban Brothers, as the mighty Miguel and his merry men keep the party spirit alive and kicking all weekend.

There will also be the very welcome return of the BBC Introducing… stage which will be showcasing a host of up-and-coming bands. Including: Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong, The Duke Spirit, Teenagers, Tawiah, F*ck Buttons, Cage The Elephant, Ladyhawke, Metronomy, Ox Eagle Lion Man, These New Puritans, Lets Wrestle, Little Dragon, Imperial Leisure, Gideon Conn, Zombie Zombie, George Pringle, Subgiant, The Restaurant, Vessels, The Ghost, Peter Von Poehl, St Vincent, Fleet Foxes and Six Nation State.

Bestival wouldn’t be complete without some of our favourite acts from previous years, including the incomparable DJ Yoda, the retro rock n roll of Kitty Daisy & Lewis, BBC Radio 1's lovely Annie Mac, the sublime Grand National, the kiddy disco-punk of Kid Carpet, the legend that is DJ Derek, chief Dexy Kevin Rowlands and the Isle of Wight’s own Bastila.

But it’s not just the music that makes Bestival special – we’ll be opening a Pandora’s box of tantalizing treats including our Bollywood cocktail bar, Jestival comedy and spoken word tent, Farmers market, secret stages and Kids Area. Bestival isn’t just a stunning music festival, it’s a 3-day wonderland of outlandish adventure and unparalleled escapism. Unlike any other festival experience around, the eye-catching adornments and magical mood throughout the fields of fun offer up endless pleasures, where fancy dress is the norm and tea and cake is always a good idea.

Head on over to Bestival - our newly refreshed and updated website - for loads more info and to check out the new Josie da Bank animations!

***myfest, North Weald Airfield, May 3/4/5 2008****

ANNOUNCING MYFEST, NORTH WEALD AIRFIELD, MAY 3/4/5 2008
MyFest© is a festival for real music fans. It is about raw energy and raw talent, not soulless acts on corporate stages feeding the money hungry fat cats. (There are enough of those festivals already) MyFest features well over 100 acts over 3 days for £49+booking fee. It will be an awesome event, with more new talent and raw musical energy than ten years of 'corporate' festivals. 3 stages, free camping, and even clean toilets and showers, for under £50 for the (Bank Holiday) weekend of May 3/4/5 2008. The venue is North Weald Airfield, (near Harlow) just 20 miles from Central London, and 5 miles from Epping Central Line Underground station.

XFM are showcasing 40 bands from XFM Uploaded, on the XFM Uploaded/Broccoli Music Stage. XFM are major champions of new music, and we are delighted to be working with them to give the festival fan an event which truly addresses the real issues around today's festivals.

"Without the constant energy and relentless reinvention of unsigned talent, the whole industry would be forced to concede that the only way to spend a weekend is to watch Saturday nights parade of karaoke casualties, so when the chance to support a real musical event comes along its time to stand up and be counted"
Jon Brookes - The Charlatans

After years of overpriced food and drink, expect quality food at sensible prices. Camping (from 7am Saturday 3rd May) is included in the ticket price, as is car parking, and the event programme. When the legends who are Ocean Colour Scene heard about MyFest, they decided that they just had to be involved in an event committed to furthering the careers of upcoming unsigned and indie bands. OCS have been invited to appear as 'special guests' and will perform a unique set on Sunday evening. Steve Craddock is flying home from a European tour with Paul Weller, just to perform at the festival. Musically, the festival includes many bands that will be on everyone's Myspace profile in the future. Across genres the festival has sourced the hottest bands and performers, and giving them the chance to play to fans from all over the UK, on a festival stage.

More details at NAS Events presents MyFest 2008 or call 01279 72 52 52

A number of other acts have yet to be confirmed and have requested that they not be mentioned by name in any information released in advance of their being contracted. We will update as and when negotiations are finalised.

MyFest is a truly ‘boutique’ festival, with no more than 5000 visitors in the event arena at any time.

Tickets are available from NAS Events presents MyFest 2008, and will be available from 1/3/08 at Trinity St. - Total Music Marketing , Xfm Uploaded , NME.COM - The world's fastest music news service, music videos, interviews, photos and free stuff to win or ::: BROCCOLI MUSIC::: .

"Of this welter of well organised, wisely curated festivals (ATP, Faster Than Sound, Sonar, Greenman) perhaps the best organised and most wisely curated was Supersonic. Plotted by Birmingham promoters Capsule, 2007's Supersonic inhabited the nexus where metal, folk and noise met."

Louis Pattison Plan B Magazine

"The Custard Factory is a typical Birmingham name, typical in its self deprecating frankness. The city of Birmingham, although the second largest in the UK, has always had more of an inferiority complex than a chip on its shoulder. Hard to love architecturally despite a recent makeover of its city centre, it feels like a city shambling ruefully on - the West Midlands accent of its citizens considered inherently risible - its hopes of civic prestige some way south of the horizon. And yet, as Supersonic once again demonstrates, Birmingham has shown itself in recent years to be far from the "cultural wilderness" this writer once offhandedly described the city as."

David Stubbs The Wire

"The finest thing in all Birmingham, avant-garde noise fest Supersonic fits more great music into. a day and a bit than ye Avalon fields of Glastonbury manage in the average decade."

Duncan Bell Bizarre Magazine

"The shared enthusiasm of artists and audience at SuperSonic 07 demonstrated that Capsule have struck a (lung-vibrating and low frequency) chord with the community they have brought together. This hunger for the unknown and sonically forbidden, leads us to wonder: what surprises could the next SuperSonic bring?"

David Thair BBC Collective

"Supersonic offered a refreshingly independent blast of black-clad minimal metal, drone rock, and avant-electronica. And was far more fun than that sounds. As a festival, Supersonic sits somewhere between Sonar by Day and a reviews page of Wire magazine brought to life."

Rod Stanley Dazed Magazine

"As British music festivals go, Birmingham's annual Supersonic event is the best kind of mixed musical bag, a dizzying assortment of avant rock textures and Heavy Metal thunder on a bill which swings from the sublime to the ridiculous without once seeming ostentatiously eclectic. Not only is the music consistently better than that of most UK weekenders, the atmosphere is equally enticing, making this the perfect festival for people who 'wouldn't normally do this kind of thing'.The organisers of Supersonic deserve credit for joining the dots between the cerebral pleasures of the avant garde and the primal pull of planet rock, striking a delicate balance between chin-stroking and headbanging few other British events bother to attempt. There's a kind of straightforward karma at work here, the thought and care invested in making this event a worthwhile experience for all involved guarantees good word of mouth, and this in turn ensures its survival. One would like to think that Supersonic could provide a good example to the UK's ailing - in terms of quality, rather than lucrativeness - festival circuit."
